   Dr. Joseph Nettikaden

Dr. Nettikaden is responsible for setting the technology vision and strategy for Esol Education. He oversees the integration of technology into Esol's schools' curricula, with a strong focus on the administration, operations and implementation of technology programs. As part of his mandate, Dr. Nettikaden also explores new, innovative technologies to enhance teaching and learning at all Esol Education schools. He oversees the technology departments at all of Esol's schools, which strive to provide an exceptional user experience to students and teachers, by taking advantage of organizational synergies and the standardization of operational processes.

Prior to joining Esol Education, Dr. Nettikaden was Vice President for Information for a market research company focusing on qualitative research. He was instrumental in providing a common technology services platform and integrated services model for standardizing technology operations at Fieldwork Inc. Prior to this, he has played key roles at leading software companies (Infor and CA), in the implementation of customer relationship management software and web-based technologies.

His educational qualifications include a Doctor of Education from Rossier School of Education, University of Southern California, MBA from Northern Illinois University and MS in Information Technology from Northwestern University. Apart from spending time with his family, he is passionate about new technologies and understanding the impact of these technologies on the daily lives of people.

 
 
   BRIAN O'DWYER

Brian O'Dwyer founded CognaLearn to help people learn better and faster. CognaLearn uses patent pending learning methods developed at Duke-NUS Medical School to deliver corporate learning solutions for GSK, Merck, Pfizer and Takeda under the MEDNIVA vertical and 30 universities on five continents are using its InteDashboard technology platform for Team-based learning ("TBL"). Brian has been an invited speaker and workshop facilitator on TBL and education technology at conferences and in Asia, Australia, Latin America and the United States

Brian O'Dwyer is an Adjunct Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Asia in Singapore where he teaches three courses with a team based teaching method that utilizes a flipped classroom: Aeronautical Science for Management, Airport Administration and Finance and Airline Management. He has also appeared as an Aviation Analyst on Channel NewsAsia on 19 occasions.

Brian is has completed 50 corporate finance transactions with a total deal value of US$15 billion. Previously, Brian was the Group Chief Financial Officer of Skywest Airlines Limited which was listed on the London Stock Exchange AIM and the Australian Stock Exchange until the sale to Virgin Australia in 2013. Prior to joining Skywest, Brian was an investment banker at Credit Suisse in Singapore, Chicago and New York where he specialized in corporate finance. He was also a strategy and operations management consultant with A.T. Kearney in Chicago.

Brian is based in Singapore and holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University and an MBA in Finance from Duke University. Brian is the former President of the Duke Singapore Alumni Club. Brian is a private, commercial, instrument, multi-engine and seaplane pilot. Brian has completed 17 marathons or triathlons and is a golfer. Brian is married with four children.

 
 
  Frans Kalp
Deputy Principal: e-Learning
Ligbron Academy of Technology


 

Frans is currently the Deputy Principal of e-Learning & Innovation at Ligbron Academy of Technology in Ermelo. Responsibilities include among others management tasks, as well as the development and implementation of new e-learning methods at Ligbron.

He is also responsible for teacher development in the use of ICT in the classroom. Other responsibilities include the setup of IT systems to support all academic structures in the school.

Passionate about innovative solutions to support rural & under-performing school communities, Frans has visited more than 13 countries during the past 9 years to share his e-learning strategies for virtual classroom teaching. Notably, experiences gained by linking Ligbron to distance learning schools through ICT have thus far proven to be invaluable for an understanding of what could be achieved with ICT in education.

Currently, Frans is managing the "Ligbron Online Learning project" that share live Mathematics and Science lessons to Grade 11 and 12 learners of 50 secondary schools as far as 310 km from Ligbron Academy of Technology in Ermelo, Mpumalanga. The Ligbron Online Learning project shares live interactive lessons to 8954 Grade 12 learners with each session and the technology is used by more than 48079 learners in 50 Secondary Schools. Provinces included so far is Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gauteng with Western Cape and KZN in progress.
