Dr. Lawrence Burke holds a Bachelor of Arts in History & English Literature from Latrobe University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Melbourne. He has a B.Litts (Hons) in Comparative Religions and a Master of Arts in Literary studies from Deakin University. He read for his Doctorate through Deakin University and the America University of London. Dr. Burke is an assessor for both Cambridge International Examinations and the International Baccalaureate Organisation. In addition he is a CELTA graduate and a teacher trainer for ESL in the Mainstream, a program taught throughout the international school network and operated under the auspices of the South Australian Department of Education and Children's Services.

Dr. Burke is also an accredited teacher from the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Teaching for Understanding program.

He has held posts of responsibility and senior leadership roles in education in Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Argentina, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Fiji. Prior to joining Beaconhouse he taught Undergraduate courses in Early Childhood Education with the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates and lectured in Educational Leadership in a joint Master's program with Deakin University and the Higher Colleges of Technology.

Dr. Burke has written and published widely on a variety of educational topics and has recently edited a book on educational technologies with the John Catt publishing house in the United Kingdom.
