Yee is an education entrepreneur who has started and mentored several start-ups, most notable of which is ASKnLearn Pte. Ltd., a leading Singapore’s e-learning provider to schools. He founded ASKnLearn in 2000 and took it as CEO from a 4-man start-up to a regional outfit with over 150 employees servicing over 300,000 learners across Asia annually. In 2007, ASKnLearn was sold to Mumbai-listed Educomp Solutions Ltd., Yee left the services of ASKnLearn in 2009 and has since started other education ventures, namely eBook publishing for children and development of imagination and creativity of students and teachers. He also mentors several technology companies. Mr Yee was a consultant with US K-12 publisher Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt from June-November 2011 and a member of a consortium that delivered the Singapore2010 Odyssey 3D virtual world project for the Singapore Youth Olympics. He is a Non-Constituency Member of Parliament in Singapore’s 12th Parliament since May 2011.

Yee graduated with Honours and Masters in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore, and MBA from the Nanyang Business School. Prior to being an education entrepreneur, Yee had taught Computer Science at the National University of Singapore, served in the Singapore Trade Development Board and was General Manager of a regional education group.

Yee is an active international speaker on a diverse range of topics ranging from ICT to management and entrepreneurship. He has been adjunct lecturer at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Polytechnic and various private education organizations. He has served on various government policy committees on ICT and education such as Singapore government’s REACH Policy Study Workgroup on Education and the National InfoComm Education Workgroup. He is currently a member of the ACE Startup Subcommittee, a government initiative to spur enterpreneurship development in Singapore.
