Mr. Mehta is an alumnus of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), besides, being first class Commerce and Law graduate from the University of Bombay. It is to be noted that due to adverse family conditions, he had to work and learn simultaneously. Despite this, he secured first class throughout his career.

Mr. Mehta is the quintessential and serial entrepreneur! During college, he setup and ran business where he made profit of Rs.250! After completing graduation, in view of difficult financial state of his family, he took up a job. This job earned him princely salary of Rs.200 p.m. salary in 1979. In 1986, he set up a stock broking firm, along with two others, which soon figured in the top five brokerage firms in the IPO business. Always looking for more challenges he setup India’s first project to manufacture Isostatically moulded products from PTFE (a kind of plastics, popularly known by Du Pont’s trade name Teflon). The project setup at a cost of Rs.22 million in 1988-89 was registered under the name DuFlon Polymers Pvt. Ltd. Unfortunately project faced humongous challenges in terms of lack of communication and transport facilities, labour troubles and high tech and critical end use the product which caused severe production and quality related issues. The company incurred a loss of over Rs. 15 million between the years 1992-95 and the entire capital was wiped off. Braving all difficulties and under the able leadership of Mr. Mehta, the company staged a complete turnaround and from 1996-97 generated profits and became a healthy unit thereafter.

Today with pride, he can say that DuFlon is the largest manufacturer of PTFE butterfly valve seats in the world, representing 80% of world’s production. In fact, DuFlon is on her way to becoming the world’s dominant producer of large number of Fluropolymer (PTFE and other related plastics) lined products required by the global valve, pump and instrumentation industry. The Company has warehousing and marketing offices in USA and UK and shortly setting up in Middle East and in China, too. The Company has won several export awards from the Government of India and also technology awards from Du Pont, USA.

After seeing DuFlon through the critical times and setting her on course to becoming a global company, the entrepreneurial bug has hit him again. His keen business mind has seen significant opportunity in elearning, education and training. Thus was born GurukulOnline Learning Solutions (GOLS), which is a leader, in the eLearning solutions in India. The Company has tied up with several leading institutions and universities e.g. Institute of Companies Secretaries of India (ICSI), Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), AIMA, AMITY University. GOLS is also an Education Provider for global certification CFPcm offered by Financial Planning Standards Boards, India (FPSB). GOLS is an Authorised Training Institution of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) for life and non-life 50/25 hrs training. Today with over 100,000 learners GOLS is the largest player in elearning. Subsequently, two more businesses have been floated to cater to the booming education and training sector. The first one is GOLS Technical and Education Training which is engaged in Technical vocational training in collaboration with Gujarat govt and EXON® solutions, which is engaged on Online Examination solutions for Universities and Institutions and Assessment solutions for the Corporate. Mr. Mehta is a regular speaker on elearning and vocational education in many seminar and conferences.
