Ashok Banerji is a multimedia and computer applications professional whose interests include eLearning, educational technology, simulation-based training; promoting the use of Information and Communication Technologies for education, task support, and skill development. He is a proponent of the concept of Electronic Performance Support Systems (EPSS) and just-in-time skill support and produced one of the earliest PhD dissertations on the topic at the University of Teesside, UK, as a member of Interactive Systems Research Group.

He was Director of Performance Consulting in a software firm in Virginia, USA – providing EPSS and training/consulting support. As Senior Lecturer Interactive Multimedia, Education and Staff Development, Singapore Polytechnic, he contributed to courses on educational technology and Multimedia design in addition to R&D projects on multimedia-based training for semiconductor industry, virtual laboratory and EPSS for marine industry applications.

Since 2002, Dr. Banerji have been associated with Jones International University, the first accredited fully online University. He was the first online Professor from India to teach at JIU and have been identified as a Gold Standard faculty member consistently over years. He served as member of MEd and EdD program committees of JIU and he authored several eLearning courses for the MEd and BABC programs of JIU.

As visiting professor he taught Educational Technology at several institutions. As consultant to Executive Ship Management Co. of Singapore he contributed to developing blended eLearning course on electrical and electronics engineering for Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies in Lonavala, the first such institute in India using Blended eLearning. He has over 40 publications as chapters in books, in international journals and conferences in UK, USA, Australia, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India and Beijing.

His book “Multimedia Technologies” co-authored with his teacher Professor A. M. Ghosh was published by Tata-McGrawHill, 2010, 1st reprint 2011 and also in ebook format, is a recommended textbook in several Universities. He wrote ‘EPSS for Science and Engineering Processes’ in book Electronic Performance Support: using technology to enhance human performance edited by Professor Philip Barker and published by Gower Publishing, UK, 2010.
